As one of the first ten RC&Ds in the nation, Cascade Pacific RC&D has a long list of successful project and partnerships in rural Oregon. (See the Regional Programs page for examples.)
These projects focus on five key areas: energy, food, jobs, land and water.
While our projects are diverse, our principles are the same in all the work we do.
We work with local people to carry out local conservation and community
development projects, like the Cascade Pacific Forest
Stewardship Initiative.
- We provide planning and project development assistance for regional projects, like the Energy Program.
- We provide grant reviews, funding assistance & fiscal management services, including help in seeking funding, billing, contracts, and other paperwork. We provide the required oversight for state, federal and foundation grants.
- We look for new strategies that work and we bring them to people in our service area. For example, our highly-successful direct marketing program, The Local Food Connection, was adapted from The Farmer-Chef Connection in Portland.
- We build partnerships to get things done. Disparate groups often
have similar goals; we help bring them together. For example, the
Northwest Weed Management Partnership brought together BLM, USFS, The Nature Conservancy, Oregon
Department of Agriculture and Soil and Water Conservation Districts to create Cooperative Weed
Management Areas.
