(Left to right) Eric Horning of Horning Farms meets with Steve Faust, president of EnSave, and Rick Barney, CPRC&D energy auditor, for an on-farm energy audit. |
As farmers, ranchers and rural small businesses face spiraling energy costs and
shrinking bottom lines, Cascade Pacific provides
services to help them save energy and money on their
operations.
Our comprehensive program looks at two ways to generate energy savings:
1. Energy efficiency improvements (EEI) upgrade existing systems and result in reduced energy use. EEIs include insulation with greater R-value, and high-efficiency motors, lighting, heating and cooling systems. Irrigation system improvements (such as low-flow sprinklers) can reduce both energy and water consumption.
2. Renewable energy systems (RES) create energy from natural sources that continually recur, including include solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and biomass.
 |
The Energy Program uses a comprehensive approach, helping busy producers and small business owners from start to finish. Services include:
- Assessing needs through interviews and on-site visits.
- Arranging energy audits for EEI projects.
- Working with operators, contractors and suppliers to get accurate project estimates and bids.
- Packaging proposals for grants and incentives.
- Providing guidance through the construction process.
The program is available to qualified agricultural producers and rural small businesses for a nominal fee. For information, contact Energy Program Manager Terry Johnson at (541) 760-6444 or terry@casco.net.
In addition to understanding energy conservation and renewable energy technologies, Terry has over 30 years of experience in building design and construction, as well as project assessment and management. |

Energy Audits
As part of Cascade Pacific's Energy Program, we can arrange an energy audit that will show you the cost-effectiveness of various energy efficiency improvements (EEI). This audit can also help you secure funding for energy-efficient upgrades through grants and incentives.
How do energy audits work?
Working with independent auditors, Cascade Pacific
facilitates audit data collection, scheduling and review. After the audit team collects the on-site data, they conduct a detailed
analysis of an operation’s energy use and provide the operator
with a written report of alternatives to increase energy
efficiency and save money. The report details how much
energy can be saved, the cost of each proposed project, and how long it will take for energy efficient
equipment to pay for itself through reduced energy
costs.
 |
Next, Cascade Pacific helps
operators identify and apply
for funding to offset the
cost of recommended
upgrades. These funds are
provided by federal, state
and utility programs offered by Bonneville Power Administration, USDA Rural Development, Oregon Department of Energy and Energy Trust of Oregon.
